We took another excursion around the west side of the island in early January. We started in Launiupoko this time (we usually go the backside).
Looking at the map below, we started from Kihei (where we live) and drove through Ma'alaea and then around the coast of the West Maui Mountains through Lahaina, Kaanapali, Kapalua, and so on...and we end in Wailuku.

We absolutely love this adventure because it has a few of the perks of the Road to Hana without the sharp and crazy turns, and without being 8 hours away from any civilization. Don't get me wrong, though, the road is plenty scary and narrow in some parts, much like the Road to Hana. Be extremely cautious if you take on this journey.

We also had the privilege of seeing a beach we had never been to before! Kanaha Beach in Kahului near the airport.
Kanaha Beach is known for wind surfing and kite surfing, and there were plenty out there that day!
We then ventured to Paia to Ho'okipa to watch more surfers...

...was Larry (Lar Bear)'s Birthday!!
we celebrated with some Fat Daddy's!!
it was the closest thing to home-cooking and true bbq we've found on the island!
We also had a few friend nights...you know, with Cranium and such.
Since I have been nannying (for the most precious and amazing little girl, might i add), I have been trying to get out of the house every night to either get some exercise or see sunset. It seems to soothe both Sophia and myself! Therapy for the soul!

One night while enjoying some Sansei sushi, friends, and karaoke, I found out that our dear friend, Tedo Stone, is downloadable! (his music, that is) He is good!! look him up!

and lastly, but certainly not least(ly?), was sweet Sophia's 1st birthday!
